The inspiration for the first Mello Signs Charity Golf Classic was born from Joe’s own experience watching his sister, Kristin, undergo treatment for a rare, and under researched cancer.  Even though Kristin’s symptoms manifested as a teenager, she was not diagnosed until 24.  Organizations like Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute (CCTDI) play an important role in detecting and battling childhood cancers.  Join the Mello Signs team for a fun day of golf in support of a great cause!

KRISTIN'S STORY

In 2016, Kristin was diagnosed with Epithelioid Sarcoma (ES), a rare and aggressive form of cancer.  After years of living with a left hand in constant pain, a portion of her arm was amputated below the elbow, less than one week after her diagnosis, to prevent further spread.

Thankfully, her surgery was successful, and she remains healthy, however, reoccurrence rates for others can be extremely high.  Often reoccurring in the lungs, the median survival for metastatic patients with ES is between 8-12 months.  While the FDA approved a new treatment option in 2020, its success rate is limited, a heartbreaking outcome for many patients.

Giving to organizations like CCTDI, one of the few specifically researching ES, is a lifesaving and hope giving action.  Joe and Mello Signs are honored to be a part of CCTDI’s work.

Thank you for your support!
