Built to Last: How Mello Signs Withstand Texas Weather

In Texas, signage isn’t just decoration – it’s an investment that needs to last. Between scorching sun, humidity, hail, and unpredictable storms, choosing the wrong materials can leave your sign faded, warped, or in pieces within a few seasons. At Mello Signs, we’ve built our reputation on delivering durable and weather-resistant signage that truly lasts.

We Know Texas Weather—And We Build Signs to Prove It

We’ve been through it all: signs struggling in the Hill Country wind, Gulf Coast humidity wreaking havoc, and DFW heat that seems endless. We ask every client the same question: “How long do you want your sign to last?” From day one, we focus on smart material selection—choosing outdoor signage substrates tailored to your local environment and budget.

Our Lineup: Material Matchmaking for Real-World Conditions

No two projects are alike. That’s why we offer a range of sign material options—each tested under real Texas conditions:

Aluminum Fabrication

Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and built for the long haul. Aluminum offers the strength of steel without the weight, making it ideal for fabricated signs, cabinets, and large installations. It won’t warp, rust, or crack, perfect for tough weather.

Dibond

A lightweight, affordable, and great material for flat panel signs and mounting applications. While not as heavy-duty as pure aluminum, it holds up well for budget-conscious projects.

Acrylic

Crystal-clear, UV-stable, and visually striking. Acrylic holds its brightness for 5–10 years, making it a solid choice for illuminated sign faces and dimensional letters exposed to direct sunlight.

Polycarbonate

Impact-resistant and nearly unbreakable. Polycarbonate is built for extreme conditions, including high-wind areas and hail-prone zones. It’s an ideal solution when toughness is a top priority.

Closed-cell PVC Foamboard

A cost-effective option for short- to medium-term outdoor signage. Lightweight, waterproof, and easy to shape or print on, this is a smart choice for temporary installs or rotating promotions.

High-Density Urethane (HDU)

Looks like carved wood, performs like a modern material. HDU doesn’t rot, warp, or crack, and it’s fully waterproof and insect-resistant, making it ideal for monument signs and dimensional branding.

Steel

Heavy-duty and built to last, steel is a go-to for projects requiring unmatched strength and durability. While heavier than aluminum, it holds up in demanding conditions and gives signs a bold, industrial feel. Proper finishing helps prevent corrosion and ensures longevity.
